Workshop For Drivers

The Daniel Ntow Obese Foundation (DNOF), with the support of Vanguard Assurance, recently organized an insightful and impactful workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of drivers in UCC and Nkanfoa at the DNOF Children and Youths Resource Centre, located within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Nkanfoa. This initiative focused on critical topics such as road safety, vehicle maintenance, and the overall health of driversโ€”key elements that contribute to safer roads and a healthier driving community.
During the workshop, esteemed representatives from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) engaged with participants, delivering informative presentations on the importance of maintaining roadworthy vehicles and practicing defensive driving techniques. A highlight of these discussions was the introduction of the COAT acronym, which stands for Concentration, Observation, Anticipation, and Tolerance. These four pillars of defensive driving emphasize the necessity for drivers to remain alert and aware of their surroundings, anticipate potential hazards, and maintain a calm and tolerant attitude, especially in challenging traffic situations.
Additionally, the workshop featured a compelling address by Dr. Prah, the Director of University Health Services. He underscored the vital connection between good health and effective driving. Dr. Prah emphasized that a healthy body and mind are essential prerequisites for safely operating a vehicle on the road. His insights served as a reminder that drivers must prioritize their well-being to ensure not only their safety but also that of others on the road.
The workshop was a resounding success, providing drivers with valuable knowledge and practical skills that they can apply in their daily routine.
